Nowadays, you will hear the term “Web 3.0” thrown about very casually, but its actual definition has remained somewhat complex even among the techies.

What is Web 3.0?

There is no solid definition to Web 3.0 other than the thought that it is a mere extension of the Web 2.0 with some more advanced and complex features. It will become a new parameter as to how website developers develop the website and most essentially how users interact with those websites. Computer and Internet experts believe that Web 3.0 will become a new parameter in web interaction and most importantly will facilitate simpler lives online of people as smarter applications such as superior search functionalities will give users exactly what they are searching for as it will incorporate AI (Artificial Intelligence) which undertakes context as compared to the use of keywords in the current case.

When will Web 3.0 era begin?

To your surprise, early signs of Web 3.0 are already here. But it took more than 10 years to transition from traditional web to current Web 2.0 so it will take just as much time to successfully transition from web 2.0 to web 3.0. But it won’t be an overstatement to say that it is going to reshape the web.

In 2003, Dale Dougherty, Vice President at O’Reilly Media came up with the term “Web 2.0”. But if the next fundamental is expected to come around in the same time span then it’s safe to say that we have already broken into Web 3.0 sometime around late 2015. The evolution in speed would be very drastic. For example: Not only would you have been replaced your own computer because it’s too slow but you also would have replaced its replacement as well.

Web 3.0 will probably prevail as “Web 3.0” just as Web 2.0 took its name and imprinted on Office 2.0, Mobile 2.0 etc.

• Artificial Intelligence & Web 3.0

Many people believe Artificial Intelligence to be the next big thing to break the internet. For example: Social Bookmarking as a search engine provides more refined results than using Google. You’re getting websites voted by humans so you have a better chance at the expansion of your plan.

However, due to the presence of this human factor, these results are subject to manipulation. Like, a group of individuals could vote for a particular website in order to make it popular thus altering the results so if Artificial Intelligence learns to differentiate between them, the results will be free of those bad elements. So, AI is deeply immersed in the world of Web 3.0.

This isn’t as much of a prediction. The Ever-Present Web 3.0 would deal with the increase in the popularity of mobile internet devices and the merging of entertainment systems with the web. Within no time the usage of internet on mobile devices (cellphones, smartphones, Pocket PCs) has increased triple-fold. This will make the internet present in our lives 24/7.

This may very well evolve into some interesting ways in which the internet will be used in the future.
